TV Review: The Walking Dead “Seed”

You wouldn’t want to be caught Dead missing this show!

The new season of The Walking Dead starts off with in your “face” action. Some time has passed as we catch up to Rick and his rag tag group of survivors as they continue their struggle to live in a world controlled by the dead. Ernest Dickerson directs the premier episode with brilliance. Each shot in perfect frame with venues, including perfect close ups of each character and huge panning shots of the jail off in the distance, all of which makes viewer forget the cameras, making them feel as if they are part of the show. Greg Nicotero’s special FX team obviously went into overtime on the premiere; with no shortage of undead, set to devour every living thing. Rick and company are desperate to escape the roving herds of zombies that seem to leave no safe place to stay.

Heading the cast, Andrew Lincoln’s portrayal of Rick Grimes has taken on a life of its own. You can feel the frustration of the character pour out of him. Even as you witness the changes the past horrific events have had on Rick, leading to his cold, hard attitude, one cannot fathom any other actor playing this part. Andrew Lincoln is Rick Grimes, imbuing the character with unparalleled realism.

In the wake of Shane’s death, the group battles to live, desperate and tired, short on supplies and without a safe haven in site. Rick pushes them even harder in a dangerous gambit to provide shelter for them and Lori’s soon-to-be-born baby. Can they all survive this deadly plan to take over the prison courtyard?

Apart from the main story, Danai Gurira returns as the enigmatic Michonne. When last we saw her, she was standing over Andrea, surrounded by walkers. We find Andrea and Michonne have spent the winter together with Andrea now very ill, seeking refuge wherever they can and Michonne using her “pets” like pack mules to carry supplies. What part does the prison play in this season? We last saw that the dead are not all in that is in the prison. What future do these survivor-inmates play with Ricks group? If you thought the roller coaster ride of last season was intense, barricade your doors, board up the windows, and gather supplies.

Fight the dead, fear the living, season 3 of The Walking Dead is here with a vengeance!!

About Dave Harryman

Hi my name is David Harryman. I was born in raised in Baltimore, Maryland. I am 35 years old and work as a Career Paramedic/Fire Fighter. My love of comics and movies began at a young age. I remember watching reruns of Star Trek on tv in my early years. Then Saturday morning cartoons brought me into the world of Spider-man and His Amazing Friends!. From that point on I was sold. Collecting comics, cards, and figures. As I grew older, collecting gave way to school and life. I never strayed to far from my love of comics. I stopped all together for a few years as career and family took over. Then about 2 years ago, I saw Marvel Universe figures. Here was a line of small figures that not only showed some of my most favorite characters, but also the unsung ones that you would never think to see in an action figure. Suddenly all that passion and love returned for my lost hobby. I broke out all the things I had in storage. I now have a small shop in Joppa Market open on weekends. My father and I run the place specializing in finding old figures and collectibles for those around us. We have built a reputation for delivering hard to find products at fair prices. My own collection has grown again to a respectable amount. Since then I have joined and become an integrable part of Collector's Trading Post. A Facebook community page that assist collectors in finding the collectibles we love and providing a constant stream of media info on all things comic, movie, and toy related. I'm always willing to help another collector and hope to find others that feel the same. Good Luck and Happy Hunting.
